The province of Ontario is calling a meeting for mayors of all communities to help put a stop to the growing opioid crisis.

Kapuskasing Mayor Alan Spacek says the idea proposed by the provincial government is a worthwhile investment.

Spacek says that although the opioid epidemic has not been as unpleasant in northern municipalities, it’s still problematic.

The Ontario government plans to fund a $2.5 million-dollar opioid plan set forth by the city of Ottawa.
