Martin Murray begins a 769 kilometer journey in the first week of March to become the 275 person to reach the North Pole.

The 45-year-old Murray, a resident of Val Rita near Kapuskasing, says the journey is something he has been considering among his family members.

He has been preparing for the journey for over four years since tackling Lake Winnipeg and Great Slave Lake.

His journey is expected to take him roughly 40 days to achieve his goal.
