Last night in the NHL the Edmonton Oilers edged the Florida Panthers 4-3, Anaheim beat Boston 5-3 and Washington skated to a 4-1 win over Philadelphia.
Rachel Homan’s Ontario rink was the first into the playoffs at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Homan edged provincial rival Krista McCarville of Northern Ontario 7-6 to get to nine wins without a loss yesterday. Manitoba is at 8-1,Northern Ontario is at 5-3. Alberta was tied at 4-4 with the Northwest Territories. The top four teams after the preliminary round’s final draw Friday morning advance to the Page playoff.
