We’re seeing the issue of one school board for all of Ontario rise up again.

The resurrection of the controversial issue is the result of a report that indicates Premier Kathleen Wynne can save her job if she puts all schools under one board. The one school board concept is very popular among the eight public boards in Northern Ontario.

The chair of the Near North board, Dave Thompson, believes education funding could be better distributed under a one board system and he adds this could save schools:

He adds declining enrolment is an ongoing issue for elementary and secondary schools and now the problem is spreading to colleges:

Thompson says the issue of one school board will go nowhere unless politicians of all political stripes get involved in the debate.
