If you have the flu, stay home. That’s the advice from a nurse in the infectious disease section of the Porcupine Health Unit. Katelin Gambino says stay home and wash your hands regularly so you reduce the chance of passing the virus onto someone else. She says one thing you don’t want to do is infect people who easily become sick because of their physical make-up. Gambino says the flu is making its way through its coverage area, which include Cochrane and Kapuskasing, in what she calls a normal progression. She says a flu shot is still the best way to immunize yourself against influenza.
