Canada blew a two goal lead twice as the United States came back to beat Canada 5-4 in the shoot out to win the Gold Medal at the World Junior Championship last night. Canada’s Thomas Chabot was named the tournament’s most valuable player. In the Bronze medal game Russia beat Sweden 2-1.

In NHL action last night Washington snapped Columbus’s 16 game win streak shutting out the Blue Jackets 5-0. Elsewhere Edmonton edged Boston 4-3 and Chicago needed overtime for a 4-3 win over Buffalo.

The Toronto Raptors got back in the win column with a 101-93 win over the Utah Jazz last night. Kyle Lowry led the Raps with 33 points.
