The Toronto Blue Jays extended qualifying offers to Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion (in-car-nass-ee-on) yesterday. The contracts are worth $17.2 million over one season. The Jays will receive a draft pick in compensation if either player decides to reject the offer and signs with another team. The Jays did not qualify Michael Saunders.

The Seattle Seahawks held off a late rally for a 31-25 win over the Buffalo Bills in the NFL Monday nighter. It’s Buffalo’s third straight loss.

Last night in the NHL the New York Islanders handed Vancouver their 9th straight loss beating the Canucks 4-2. Elsewhere Boston shut out Buffalo 4-0 and Florida skated to a 3-1 win over Tampa bay.
