A tick carrying the bacteria that can cause Lyme disease has been confirmed in the area. The Porcupine Health Unit says the black-legged tick was pulled off of a resident in July, and tested positive for the bacteria. However, the area is still considered at low risk for Lyme disease. However, the health unit says to wear closed-toe shoes and long sleeved shirts while out in the woods.
