The Toronto Blue Jays got thumped  8-1 yesterday by the Tampa Bay Rays . It’s Toronto’s fourth straight series loss, but they remain two games behind Boston for first place in the AL East after the Red Sox lost 1-0 to Baltimore last night.

Ryan Getzlaf scored in overtime to give Team Canada to a 3-2 win over Team Russia in a World Cup of Hockey exhibition game last night. Canada opens the tournament Saturday against the Czech Republic. Meanwhile the Czech Republic edged Team North America 3-2 and Team Europe thumped Sweden’s 6-2.
