NDP CRITIQUES THE TPP

Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus is agreeing with the NDP’s concerns that the Trans Pacific Partnership is bad for Canadians. The party says on a national level, the TPP is going to damage important industries, while putting corporate interests ahead of the public. This comes as an economic study on the deal was released, which Angus says shows there are also concerns at the local level.  Angus says it’s the investor state provision, which will essentially allow international corporations to take Canada to court if the country supports buying local, for example. He says it’s a complicated trade deal, and its being negotiated in secret.
