The Throne Speech yesterday saw many promises including cuts to hydro across the province. The MPP for Temiskaming-Cochrane, John Vanthof says this is a step in the right direction, but it’s the first of many. The MPP says the Wynne government pledged to knock eight percent off the provincial portion of the HST for all electricity bills, but with the carbon cap and trade tax it won’t make much of a difference. Vanthof says until they see results he thinks it’s all talk.  Other topics that were covered in the Throne Speech include addressing cuts to health care and a promise to create 100 thousand spots for kids in child care over the next five years.
