NewsABITIBI COMMONS PROJECT GETTING UNDERWAY SHARE ON: Tim Rout, staff Tuesday, Sep. 13th, 2016Last week residents of Iroquois Falls met to discuss the future of the mill site. The purpose of the meeting was to give the town an update on the project that’s looking to give an essential boost to the economy. Riversedge Developments is promising the Abitibi Commons project will turn the mill site into a new multi-industry facility. Right now work is being done to try and bring the environmental conditions of the property up to provincial standards. About 33 thousand tonnes of soil is being moved from the mill site and brought to the landfill since contamination levels in the soil are low enough that it’s not considered hazardous.
