The Special Olympics are under way in Rio and Kapuskasing is having their very own games. Every Saturday starting this weekend there will be bowling at Northside Lanes and Monday afternoon will see swimming competitions. The games continue all winter long. Community Coordinator and organizer of the Special Olympics, Simone Knowles says they have a good amount of athletes who come out and compete every year. Â Everyone is welcome to come out and take part in the games. Drop in sessions are allowed, but Knowles says athletes who can make it out to at least half of the days will be able to compete in the regional competition at the end of the season.
