TRAFFIC TICKETS DOWN, BUT CRIMINAL CHARGES UP

During the month of August the James Bay Detachment responded to 1075 calls for service. That number is down almost 100 from the month of July. Although the amount of provincial offences dropped, there was an increase in criminal code charges. Staff Sergeant Baldassare Nuccio with the James Bay detachment says the reasoning behind that could be due to ongoing investigations.  While police have had occasion to write fewer traffic tickets in the Cochrane and Iroquois Falls area, they are concerned that officers are receiving up to two domestic violence calls each day.
