Toronto’s Marco Estrada allowed one run and four hits with four strikeouts over seven-plus innings as the Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-1 last night. Toronto maintained a two-game lead over the Red Sox for the division lead, while Baltimore fell four games back.
Milos Raonic advanced to the second round of the U.S. Open with a straight sets win over Germany’s Dustin Brown yesterday. Fellow Canadian Vasek Pospisil earned his first Grand Slam victory of the year, beating  Slovakia’s Jozef Kovalik in straight sets. Eugenia Bouchard plays her first round match later today.
