The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry have reported 12 active fires burning in the Northeast region. Due to hot and dry conditions forest fire dangers are imminent. The most recent fire is North Bay 32 which is at 40 hectares and is located 12.5 kilometers west of Latchford. Residents of the town could see smoke from the fire this week but there is no risk to the town. Water bombers and three ground crews have been dispatched to disperse the fire.  The MNRF say no current fire bans are active but advising the public to be mindful of fire safety precautions.
