Each year numerous tragic and preventable deaths and injuries occur on Ontario lakes and rivers due to careless behaviour. A big wake can easily upset smaller watercrafts and cause property damage along the shoreline. Boating restrictions limit speeds to 10 kilometres per hour when operating within 30 meters of shore.
