The forest fire situation in Northeastern Ontario continues to improve. There are currently nine active fires in the region and just a couple of weeks ago that number was doubled. Earlier in the week one new fire had been discovered in Sault Saint Marie which is not under control burning at 0.1 of a hectare. Cochrane 11 is being observed at 15 hectares and the fire in Hearst 5 is under control at just over 2,500 hectares.
