The OPP is advising the public to be cautious of advertising scams. One such scam involves a pleasant looking young person – usually a young man – identifying himself as a gas company employee offering an upgrade to your home heating or cooling system. He may ask for personal information, or to enter your residence to inspect your furnace, when in fact he is casing your home for theft or engaging in other criminal activity. Be careful allowing anyone into your home unless you know the individual, or have requested a home visit.
