NEXT STEP IN RESTORING TRAIN SERVICE

Timmins city council is doing what it can to help reinstate passenger rail services to northern Ontario.  The city is signing off on a resolution to lobby the government for funding to bring back the Algoma Central Railway, which ran between the Soo and Hearst. Mayor Steve Black says it’s an important mode of transportation for northern Ontario.  Black says the northeast has seen enough cuts to transportation, like the ONTC, and signing off on this motion is a way to support bringing some back.  That motion will be then be sent on to upper levels for government in the hopes changes will be made.
