The Hamilton Tigercats won the opening game of the 2016 CFL season beating the Toronto Argonauts 42-20.

The Boston Red Sox managed to get past the Chicago White Sox 8-7 in extra innings.  The win puts them a full game ahead of the Blue Jays for second place in American League East and a game and a half back of Baltimore.

It wasn’t a Canadian drafted first overall this year at the NBA Draft, but it was another player from outside of the United States.  Philadelphia selected Australian Ben Simmons with the first overall pick.  The top Canadian drafted was Jamal Murray seventh overall.  The Raptors picked 7-foot-1 centre Jakob Poeltl 9th overall.
