TEMBEC PLANTING AND HARVESTING UNDERWAY

As Tembec is currently in seed planting operations the forestry company, previously SpruceĀ Falls, has just begun re-harvesting an area which was planted in the 1920s. Ā Planning Superintendent for Forest Operations at Tembec, Kevin Del Guidice says the areas ofĀ replanted forest which will be harvested is increasing. Ā Del Guidice says sustainability is vital to regulating costs, keeping up with demand and keepingĀ to harvesting within a single region for the next hundred years. Ā In the spring of 2012 Tembec celebrated 300 million trees planted in the Gordon Cosens Forest. Ā Del Guidice says Dan Simis and Chad McQuade lost both their lives in 2011 in reforestingĀ operations and the milestone was dedicated to them both. Ā This year two planters will be celebrating one-million tree milestones.
