PIPELINE MOVING FORWARD

For the past three years FONOM has supported TransCanada’s Energy East Project and now the plan it moving to its review stage.  The review process will take nearly two years before it goes back to the feds to make a final decision.  One of the pipeline’s biggest draws is the nearly 4,000 jobs it will create during its development and construction and around 1,500 more once its operational.  FONOM has supported the project due to its potential environmental and socioeconomic impacts on northern Ontario.  Presidents of FONOM Alan Spacek says it will help reduce the amount of oil being transported by both rail and truck in northern communities.
