FLOOD VICTIMS RETURN HOME

Evacuees from Kashechewan are now free to return home today, as flights will be leaving Kapuskasing and other host communities over the next few days.  Manager of Protective Services Gerry Demeules says the elders have assessed the area and determined there is no more flooding risk to the remote First Nations Community.  Hundreds of evacuees from Kapuskasing and Thunder Bay will be returning to their homes over the course of this week.  The evacuation is a huge collaborative effort with the town of Kapuskasing, provincial, federal and First Nations partners.  This year other communities like Smooth Rock Falls and Kirkland Lake stepped up to the plate to take on evacuees if needed.
