There’s some movement on First Nations having complete jurisdiction over child welfare in Aboriginal communities. Ontario Regional Chief Isadore Day says First Nations and the Ontario government will identify areas that need money. Then together, they’ll involve the federal government. Day says in this age it’s unacceptable that there is a great deal of poverty and youth suicide in First Nation communities.
