The province is reminding hunters the spring bear hunting season begins May 1st and runs through to June 15th. The MNR says there are some new baiting regulations coming into effect this year which will apply to both the spring and fall bear hunts. Placing bait closer than 500 meters of a home or property and no fewer than 200 metres away from roadways is illegal. The spring bear hunt pilot program has been expanded to 2020 thanks to feedback from the hunting community here in the north.
