The OPP says it’s doing its best to make sure residents are staying informed enough to avoid fraud.  It says in the last year 422 complaints were made with over $150,000 in losses and 200 victims as a result of fraud.  Police say those numbers are with 95 per cent of those crimes going un-reported.  The OPP says in order to protect yourself you must protect your personal and banking information from high pressure tactics or offers too good to be true.  If you do receive a fraudulent phone call or believe you’ve been the victim of online fraud, you’re asked to call police immediately.
