Still no start date for reconstruction of Municipal Rd.

Initial pothole filling is complete on the nine kilometres of Municipal Rd. belonging to the City of Timmins.

What remains to be done is the provincial announcement of a date to start rebuilding the entire road from Hwy. 11 outside Porquis to Hwy. 101.

A statement from MPP and northern economic development minister George Pirie’s office confirms that no start date has been finalized. It adds that he’s working with his colleagues to advance the project.

The city has not lifted the 50 km/h speed limit on its stretch of the road. It will stay in place until the public works department is confident the patches will hold. It also points out that pothole repair this time of year is temporary.
