Smile Cookie Week arrives this coming Monday at Tim Hortons. And for the eighth time in Iroquois Falls, the total proceeds from cookie sales go to Access Transit. It’s the bus service for elderly and people with mobility issues.
Secretary-treasurer Suzanne Castonguay says the cookies are decorated by volunteers.
“You know, my schedule is totally full,” she notes, “but I always take names just in case, because there’s always somebody who can cancel last minute. So anybody who wants to call, go for it.”
Castonguay says her group doesn’t set a fundraising goal.
“It’s so difficult because it’s incredible how much money we raise every year. Up until now, Tim Hortons has donated $93,000.”
The money is used for operation, maintenance and fuel for the bus, as well as the drivers’ salaries.
Smile Cookie Week begins on Monday and runs until Sunday, May 3rd.
Free delivery of the cookies is available.
