Veterinary assistance program expanded by province

The province is expanding eligibility for the Veterinary Assistance Program, as well as streamlining the application process.
Officials say it will ensure livestock producers in Northern Ontario will have reliable access to veterinary care, strengthening the province’s agri-food sector.
MPP Georgie Pirie says the program has a long history of supporting veterinarians and farmers and the redesign is an important first step to strengthening it to better support agricultural production.
Other updates include adding honeybees and fish as eligible livestock, increasing vet compensation and more.
