Tom Saul Memorial Ride goes March 7th

On the first Saturday of March every year, the Cochrane Classic Vintage Riders Club has its Tom Saul Memorial Ride.

Executive member Dan Girard says the 17th annual snowmobile ride is set to go on March 7th. Club members love riding their vintage machines, but Girard says any sled is welcome.

“And the reason we call it the Tom Saul is because Tom was one of the founding members of our club,” Girard explains, “and shortly after our first ride, Tom passed away of cancer.”

Money raised goes to the chemotherapy room at Lady Minto Hospital.

The ride goes to Abitibi Campground, where it stops for lunch.

“And we usually serve hot dogs and coffee and hot chocolate and some years, again this year, we’ll have some hot chili as well to go with it,” says Girard.

Details can be found on the Vintage Riders Facebook page.
