What’s going into storm recovery in Iroquois Falls

Barring any more storms, it’s going to take a couple weeks for towns like Iroquois Falls to recover from the winter wallop we’ve just been through.

Public works director Steve Poliquin says town workers and contractors are working around the clock.

“At this time most of the town roads are single-lane,” he explains. “We have everything opened up throughout the municipality except for sidewalks. That’s where we’re at right now.”

Poliquin says the sidewalks are simply “too consumed with snow”.

And while streets and country roads are open to a single lane of traffic, Monteith Rd. offers a special challenge.

“The way the drifts happen there with thee cash crop farms, it created lots of drifting,” Poliquin points out, “so there’s drifts from eight to ten feet so we’re using our loader with the blower on the country roads.”

There are volumes more information on the clean-up in and around the Falls in the audio of our interview posted below.
