The Lumberjack Festival hosted by Kapuskasing has made another appearance on Festivals and Events Ontario’s top-100 list. The town’s Community Development Officer, Chantal Rody says being on the list is big for marketing the event and for bragging rights. Lumberjack Festival has a significant economic impact on local businesses and the town itself with thousands in attendance each year. Rody says the festival is growing slowly with last year’s BMX stunt riders being a big hit. She says the town is hoping to expand the amateur lumberjack competitions which boasted solid attendance. Planning for this summer’s festival already began in September and the event is looking for a new chair.
