For the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities, it’s a good and bad news provincial budget. On the plus side, FONOM likes that the community infrastructure fund will jump to 300-million dollars by 2018. Also going up to 30-million dollars is the connecting links program by 2018. However FONOM is worried that the Liberals are making life more expensive for northerners by adding a 4.3 cent gas tax. The lobby group says Northern Ontario already has high gas prices and the region doesn’t need prices to go further north.
