Meghan wants Nar-Anon in Cochrane

A Cochrane woman is trying to start a chapter of Nar-Anon in the town. She says there aren’t any north of Sudbury.

In keeping with Nar-Anon tradition, Meghan is only using her first name.  She’s looking for interest in starting the group that’s based on the 12-step program for family and friends of addicts.

“It’s supposed to be non-professional and it’s just a meeting for people who have desperation,” she explains. “They want to be able to help their family members while also implementing boundaries in self-care for themselves.”

Meghan says she has no background in social work… she’s just hoping to get the group off the ground.

“While one of the traditions is that it’s to remain non-professional, maybe somebody who has greater leadership skills can kind of take over.”

Meghan is working on getting the Nar-Anon organization to recognize Cochrane.  Meanwhile, you can get more information from her via [email protected] .
