We’re a week away from Canada’s 158th birthday, and the community services department in Cochrane has a full day of Canada Day festivities lined up.
Community programmer Ben Denis says it begins with the annual around-the-lake swim between ten and noon.
“Then we have some beach family games and watercraft rentals, that’ll be all free down at the beach house. We have the big inflatables we’ll have over at the Pavilion. That’ll be free, too,” he outlines. “And we also have the beach volleyball tournament that we have every year. It’s $20 per team and it’s 100% payback.”
The evening brings live music.

And what would Canada Day be without fireworks to cap off the festivities? Denis says they’ll be right after the music.
