Guy Losier looking forward to his new post as head coach of Hearst Lumberjacks

A guy who learned his love of hockey in Iroquois Falls is the new head coach of the NOJHL’s Hearst Lumberjacks. Guy Losier says he’s overwhelmed by the outpouring of support since the announcement last week.

Losier says the messages on social media and the reaction in the community have him excited  and he can’t wait for September. He adds that what he looks most forward to are games at Claude Larose Recreation Centre, a place he’s played at before.

The new Head Coach of the Hearst Lumberjacks admits he’s overwhelmed by the outpouring of support he received since the announcement last week.

Guy Losier says the messages on social media and the reaction in the community have him excited and can’t wait until September.

He adds that what’s he’s looking forward to the most are games at Claude Larose Recreation Centre, a place he’s played at before.

“I came here in 1982 as a hockey player and never left,” he said. “I feel what these kids feel when they come to the Claude Larose Recreation Complex because I lived it in 82 when I was playing for the Lumberkings and I want to continue on and encourage them.”

Losier says one of his priorities is to help recruit more billet families.

“And they play a big role in the community and also for the lumberjacks because if the kid is not happy or doesn’t enjoy or doesn’t have a play to be we are not there,” he said. Without the billets there is no hockey club.”

Losier says he will be behind the billet families and admits his phone will be very busy with calls over the next few months.
