With the beautiful lake you can walk around or across in the middle of Cochrane, it’s pretty easy to get some physical activity. And this month, it could mean prize money to support Hillcrest Park.
Again this year, the Cochrane Park Pals are participating in the Participaction Community Challenge to be the most physically active community per capita in Canada.
Park Pals member Erin Trusz says the most active town in Ontario per capita gets $7,500. Most active in Canada gets $100-grand.. It will be used for park equipment.
“Our target audience is the age range from zero to five,” she explains, “because currently at Hillcrest Park there’s nothing for that age group and then anything we can buy on top of that is just a bonus.”
Any physical activity counts.
“Gardening, biking, walking, tennis, pickleball, any sport,” Trusz notes. “The Cochrane Soccer Club is on there, logging in their points. Some of the schools have signed up, logging in their gym classes.”
You can have your personal activity included on the Park Pals Facebook page, or at Live at the Lakeside the next two Thursdays.
