A couple awards have been presented to two adults involved in the Scouting movement in Cochrane. Group commissioner Savion Cline has received a bar to the medal of good service, essentially levelling up the medal. It’s for exceptional contribution. And youth and fundraiser coordinator Crystal Burkholder is recipient of the Silver Acorn for distinguished service to Scouting.
Cline says that one is pretty prestigious.
“There is a lot that she does with our group,” he notes, “but even her volunteer work with Scouts Canada itself to be able to do some of the adventures that they have gone on.”
That includes last year’s trip to Iceland. Burkholder is head of the Canadian delegation to the adventure in Iceland next year, and is working on getting Canadian Scouts to an international jamboree in Poland in 2027.
