In Cochrane history this week, we connect with a fight over the local call centre 25 years ago.
Front page of The Cochrane Times on May 5th, 2000 reported on O.N. Tel being accused of putting the new Cochrane Call Centre in jeopardy.
O.N. Tel would not match the long-distance package it gave other call centres. MPP David Ramsay and the Cochrane Public Utilities Commission said the call centre was paying three to four times what other Ontario call centres were paying.
In a complaint to the CRTC, Ramsay said Ontario Northland was making it impossible for the Highway 11 corridor to open call centres.
