Emergency preparedness money comes to Cochrane

Cochrane is using its $22,008.00 share of a provincial emergency preparedness fund to buy a drone camera as well as cots and sleeping bags for evacuees.

In Timmins on Friday, emergency preparedness and response minister Jill Dunlop said as the number of emergencies continues to rise, the government commitment to preparedness can turn the tide.

“But we know more is needed necessarily in the North,” she remarked “This is why our government is investing another five-million dollars into communities across the province to enhance emergency preparedness and response.”

“This investment means that even more recipients can purchase critical equipment and deliver essential emergency management training. It will help ensure that communities and organizations across Ontario have the resources that they need to help prepare for and respond to emergencies.”

A total of $5-million has been divided among municipalities, First Nations and other organizations.
