The official 50th anniversary of the Iroquois Falls Public Library building is May 1st. But it will be closed, while new flooring and shelves are installed..
Assistant librarian Haley Montreuil says the closure runs from April 28th until May 20th.
“Any books taken out between now and the 28th or any books renewed will be due on the 20th of May when we reopen,” she advises. “No fines will be accrued during the closure.”
The limit on the number of books borrowed by an adult will be waived.
“For those who read tons and you’re in here every week, they can take out 10, 20, 30, 40 books, as many as they would like to hold them over until we reopen. There is no limit.”
The outdoor book drop will be available most of the time, with a very visible sign up when it’s not.
The building officially opened on May 1st, 1975. A celebration of its 50th anniversary will take place on July 2nd.
