Sessions offered to promote federal immigration and francophone job programs

Lunchtime sessions on how you as an employer can take advantage of two programs are being offered in six communities across Cochrane and Timiskaming Districts next week.

The federal government-supported programs are the Regional Rural and Francophone Immigration pilot projects.

They’re facilitated by Madison Mizzau at the Timmins Economic Development Corporation.

“We’ll provide an overview about how employers can utilize the programs to help meet their labour challenges,” she explains, “and as well, field as many questions from employers who are interested as we can.”

Priority sectors:

  • Health
  • Education, Law and Social, Community and Government Services
  • Trades and Transport
  • Natural Resources and Agriculture
  • Business, Finance and Administration

Staff at the Timmins Economic Development Corporation will help you through the entire process, beginning with being designated for the programs.

“Once designated,” says Mizzau, “then they can go through the actual application process for their employee or prospective employee.”

She says the government doesn’t provide you with any money, but opens a pathway to permanent residency in the region, helping to fill labour needs.
