UPDATE: The cause of the fire will remain undetermined. Fire Chief Dan Boucher says that’s because once flames compromised the building, the building had to be knocked down by an excavator.
The alarm went in at about 5:00am. The excavator moved in early in the afternoon. The chief suspects that the flames began inside a false ceiling, moving up into the roof. Firefighters had to chop holes in the roof to get at the blaze. Only one of the two apartments was occupied. Restaurant owners Rob and Elise Comé lived in it.
A fire that was reported early Sunday has destroyed the North 141 Restaurant in Iroquois Falls.
In the afternoon, an excavator was brought in to demolish what was left of the building, on the corner of Main St. and d’Iberville Ave.
No word yet on a cause or injuries.
