The town of Kapuskasing has lost its bid for the 2017 AAA Central Regional Hockey Championship to Sudbury. Manager of Economic Development, Andre Robichaud says the board had its best presentation yet on Saturday, as the Kapuskasing Flyers beat the North Bay Trappers in their first post-season game of the season. The Flyers President, Darren Potvin says it speaks volumes on the chances of a small community not located on Highway 17 to get the privilege of hosting such an event. The town’s Recreational Director, Marc Clavelle says it was always a risk for the NOHA board to choose Kapuskasing, but after the Flyers storied season, stellar attendance and great presentation, he was optimistic.
