Snowmobile season sledding into April

Despite April arriving in four days, snowmobiling season continues in our region.

Gilbert Fortin is the president of OFSC District 14. It covers the area from the Tri-Towns to Iroquois Falls, including Kirkland Lake, Timmins, Elk Lake and Gogama.

He says for the most part, the trails are in fantastic condition.

“It’s as you get closer to the city and the roads and the pavement that it’s iffy,” he observes,  “but where there’s snow, they’re still good. And with Mother Nature giving another wallop there supposedly in the next coming few days, it might help to carry on a little further.”

The Polar Bear Riders out of Cochrane report similar conditions, expecting the season to last at least a couple more weeks.

The advice is always to get updates from the OFSC interactive trail map.
