The Member of Parliament for Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing expects that spring might be in the air for a Federal Election.
New Democrat Carol Hughes says when the House of Commons resumes March 24 it will include a throne speech and then perhaps a confidence vote.
“It’s just a matter of time before we were going into an election so we are probably looking at a May 5 to May 12th date round that time when the actual election would be so that’s to been seen,” she said. “We always say it’s never a good time to be going into an election.”
Hughes says a new liberal leader and interim prime minster won’t have a long shelf life in Parliament, but depending who it is could affect the voting results.
Hughes is stepping aside after 16-and-a-half years in politics to spend more time with her family.
