Preserving the history of Iroquois Falls is getting a boost today (Friday).
Heather Hannah, who grew up in the Falls with her siblings and traces her family back three generations there, is donating three computers to the museum. She and her husband, James Duhaime have already donated a flat scanner.
Hannah says when she visited the volunteer-run museum last year, she learned that it was inundated with photos, documents and other things.
“At first, they didn’t know how to handle all that,” she remarks, “because the best way of storing and sorting all of those things is computers.”
Hannah, whose parents were born in Iroquois Falls and still live there, says it’s important to preserve the local history.
“It’s an important little town in Northern Ontario,” she claims. “I belong to it still, even though I’ve been gone for over 40 years. But as you would have seen yourself at last year’s high school reunion, plenty of people who have been gone much longer than me, felt a tie and returned.”
Dr. Heather Hannah has a veterinary practice in downtown Toronto. Her husband is a former environmental engineer who now works in his wife’s clinic.
