NEW P.E.T. SCANNER FOR THE NORTH

Estimates are putting a PET scanner for Northeastern Ontario about two years away.  The five million dollars to buy the cancer-detecting device needs to be raised by northern communities and so far two million has been raised.  The Ministry of Health has promised to install the scanner once all the money is in place at a cost of 1.6 million dollars.  The PET scanner would operate from the Health Sciences North hospital in Sudbury.
