It’s Lion Bill Mitchell Christmas Telethon time in Cochrane, this Sunday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Lions Club member and co-emcee with Roxanne Ross, Gary Girard, says it will be live on the community cable channels from the Lions Den, downstairs at the public library.
“We have some live entertainment downstairs and people are welcome to come and sit there and interact with us and watch the live entertainment,” Girard notes.
Video recordings of local entertainers will be interspersed throughout the afternoon.
Girard says the fundraising goal is at least $15,000. Except for some put aside for bursaries at local schools, the money goes to grocery vouchers handed out by the food bank to people who need them.
“They can’t buy alcohol, they can’t buy cigarettes, anything like that. And it’s based on if you have one person, they will get $75; a family of four might get 150.”
